Closet Organization

Closet Organization

When it comes to Closet Organizaton, think about ‘easy access’. If you’re getting ready for work, you should be able to just walk up or in to your closet and find exactly what you need right away.  For work I mainly wear flats or sandals, so I placed those in bins close to the floor so I can easily  access which pair I want to wear without having to dig through piles of shoes.

I have all of my dresses sorted by style, then pants next. My pants are sorted by color so I can choose at a glance which pair will be my choice for the day.  Closet Organization - Clothes sorting

On the other side of my closet I keep my skirts and shirts. Skirts are once again sorted by color and style. My shirts are sorted by arm length. So they start off with sleeveless, then short sleeve followed by mid-length, and last long sleeves. Even though I live in Florida, I use a lot of long sleeve shirts and cardigans because the office I’m employed at is always freezing.

Closet Organization - shoe organizing

Ah shoes… The most important collection. I store my shoes as follows.. heels and special occasion shoes are stored in clear plastic bins on my shelf above my skirts. I keep my flats and sandals in larger bins, then flip flops and slippers in cloth bins which are located on top of my dresser in my closet.

Closet Organization - Shoe Storage

Since I’m short, I keep a stool handy at all times in case I need to get to items which may be placed too high for me to reach. Closet Organization - Closet StorageI also keep my jewelry in my closet so once I have my outfit on for the day, I can just reach over and grab whatever peace of jewelry goes with my outfit. Closet Organization - Jewelry

I used ‘left over’ home decor as my Jewelry storage. My bracelets are on a small vase. I used my larger vases to hang my costume jewelry on. I also used a few small wicker baskets to places my watches in.

Closet Organization - Decorative boxes

I purchased decorative boxes from Michael’s to store my swim suits, scarves and other miscellaneous items. They are very sturdy and have velcro in the front for easy access.

Closet Organization is just the first step to feeling like you have accomplish something! Next, the Home Office.!

Here’s another idea!

They are so easy to grow and once you make a few arrangements at home, you can take clippings to make new arrangements that will continue to bloom.

Purchase one or a variety of mini succulents like these at your local Lowes Home Improvement or any nursery of your chose. Most of the little ones range from $1.75-$3.00. I think it’s good to mix and match different colors and textures.

If you want a less elaborate pot (or run out of time) you can always just tie the printable card on the side of the pot.  You can also use bigger pots and  If you have a bigger container, you can print the design on full sheet label paper to create a sticker and adhere to the front of your pot.  Any way you do it, your teacher will know how much they are loved.

Teachers are real life superheroes. They educate, innovate, encourage and support. Every day they touch the lives of millions of children and their work and impact extends far beyond the boundaries of the classroom.

Teachers deserve some admiration and gratitude, and sometimes students need a little nudge in the right direction. Help your students discover all that teachers do with these writing and craft activities, and give them a way to say “thanks” to a special educator who made a positive difference in their lives.

Let’s talk candles

Let’s talk Candles

Whether it’s 10:00 am or 6:00 pm, Candles can make a room look fabulous ! When decorating my home I always incorporate Candles to almost every room, well not my son’s room. 🙂 As soon as I light them up, they give a nice soft look to the room.

I’m a huge fan of Partylite . There home decor is beautiful and there candles smell wonderful. Below are a few things from my Partylite collection.

I use them in different rooms throughout the year to give each room a different look without  spending a ton of money. I also try to host a party every once in a while to receive free products to add to my collection.

waterfall

This beauty has a water fall feature, which gives a nice ambience to a room, I have placed this in my bathroom, my bedroom and also in my living room during parties or dinners.

When decorating with candles I think about what mood I’m in and add color to match!

Green is one of my favorite color, most of the time I group very earthy colors together like placing a green candle with greenery and a brown box with some white flowers in it.

One important thing when decorating is to group decor in threes.partylite candles

What I mean by that is, if you place for example a picture frame and greenery for decor, there should be one more item grouped with it, like a candle or a small picture frame.

I learned this from a home designer, she was right, I tested this out by placing two items on my night stand, it looked ok, but when I placed the third item in the group, everything just looked more uniform.

Easter Brunch!

It’s that time of the year! Easter Brunch Time! I plan on hosting an Easter Brunch at our home this year.

In addition, we will be hosting an egg hunt for the kids.

Carrot Chocolate Covered Strawberries

carrot-strawberry-pudding-cups-4
Ingredients
Carrot Strawberries:
Strawberries (rinsed and dried)
Bag of Orange Candy Melts (available at Michael’s, Hobby Lobby Jo-Anns)
Parchment Paper
Plastic Baggie and Scissors
Carrot Pudding Cups
Clear Cups
Crushed Oreos
1 Large Box Chocolate Pudding
3 cups milk

Instructions
Begin by rinsing your strawberries. Place them on a paper towel to dry.

  • Line a baking sheet or pan with parchment paper. Place Strawberries right next to your pan. Also, place a hot pad next to the pan for when the chocolate is melted.
*NOTE: Sometimes the parchment paper doesn’t stay very well and starts to roll back up. To stop this I will spray a little cooking spray on the pan and then put on the parchment paper or use magnets to hold it down.
  • Melt your Candy Melts (all of the bag except about 15-20 melts) by pouring them into a pan on LOW heat, stirring CONSTANTLY with a rubber spatula. Yes, it may take at least 5 minutes and your hand gets tired, but your candy will melt perfectly. When candy coating is completely smooth, remove from heat.
  • Hold your pot of chocolate at an angle. Grab strawberries by the stem and dip both sides in the chocolate and place on your parchment paper. Continue doing this for all strawberries.
Let Strawberries set on your counter until hard
  • Take a sandwich bag and cut the tip of it for the chocolate drizzle part. Set aside
  • Melt reserve candy melts in a pan on LOW stirring CONSTANTLY with a rubber spatula. When done pour the chocolate into the un-cut side of the baggie. Using a dish towel, squeeze the chocolate to the other side (it will be hot if you just use your hands) and gently drizzle the chocolate from side to side over the strawberries on the parchment paper. Let set
  • Prepare pudding cups by adding 2 TB crushed oreos to the bottom of each cup
  • Make pudding as directed on box.
Pour pudding into cup over crushed oreos.
  • Top with more crushed oreos
  • Place strawberry in center.
  • Refrigerate until ready to serve.
